Starting to introduce some new dreamscape shakers

Starting to introduce some new dreamscape shakers here. The hardwood ply curve was tricky but turned out slick. I decided to go a little more intimate on this one: after a few questions and a little research I found out both clients natal charts, then by overlapping them found the points of intersection. I then mapped these out and projected them onto the headboard - Inlaying brass dowels at each location. This splash of seemingly randomized star like brass insets is what I like to think of as a couples relational astronomy. Or just one god damned nice looking red oak dotty brass bed. #notsorandomdots

The Scrap Piece of Crap - except it isn’t crappy

The Scrap Piece of Crap - except it isn’t crappy. I built this as a celebration of finishing 147 bed orders this year, it’s an amalgamation of scrap : white oak, red oak, Hickory, Baltic Birch, Maple & walnut - the varying tones reflected in the gradient. Now that I’ve finished my orders I sit here staring at my wait list contemplating opening my listings. Why? Well allot of my clients don’t know this, but this business hasn’t been as “successful” as it seems. Yes, I’m overflowing with orders, I worked hard to create a successful business with a good portfolio. The issue has been the shipping industry and the overhead costs, damages, claims, lost inventory, smashed inventory etc. associated with it. Right now I have over $30,000 worth of claims from shipping damages and lost beds, all insured but not a single one accounted for by the insurer. I’ve shipped beds that ended up costing so much that I paid to have them shipped and didn’t make a dime on them (that’s a $4000+ bedframe). I thought I’d figured it out: not only designing a bed that deconstructs and packs within itself into the smallest box possible, but also constructing custom pallets for my boxed beds, strapping them, shrink wrapping them, labelling them “fragile” and adding labels stating “items not to be removed from pallet as will jeopardize the value of shipment” - but my last four beds shipped this way were ALL removed from their pallets, boxes damaged and some boxes lost. This happens with more than 60% of my beds these days. I rarely receive reviews anymore, not even thank you’s - just really pissed off clients demanding refunds with what I end up having to pay from my pocket. Then there are the countless “re-weigh” invoices I get slammed with by couriers that double way my shipment and charge me double the cost two months down the road amongst various other “handling” charges I have no say to. It truly is a disaster. Believe me - I’ve done my homework on couriers, shipping, brokers and the whole shebang - LTL shipping is all the same, the industry is chaos. So if you’re on my wait list - now you know. I have allot of legwork to do before these dream ships start sailing again. Rant Over✌🏼
